BioFX® AP-Blue and AP-Red SpectraFX Microwell and/or Membrane Substrates

BioFX® AP-Blue SpectraFX produces a dark blue-purple reaction product and AP-Red SpectraFX produces an orange-red reaction product upon reaction with alkaline phosphatase (AP).

Product Description
  • Two-component substrate for detection of alkaline phosphatase
  • Reagent A (AP EU) (Product Code: APBA) is colorless to faint blue in color
  • Produces a broad spectra mono-di-tetrazolium complex forming a hetero-formazan complex (HFC)
  • Read in the 490 nm to 650 nm range
  • Reagent B (AP Thiozol) (Product Code: APTB) is yellow in color and has a slight medicinal fragrance
  • Substrate produces a dark blue-purple soluble product upon reaction with alkaline phosphatase
  • Produces a broad spectra mono-tetrazolium complex forming a mono-hydride ion (H-)
  • Read in the 450 nm to 550 nm range
  • Reagent B (AP INTX) (Product Code: APIX) is colorless to slight yellow in color
  • Substrate produces an orange-red soluble product upon reaction with alkaline phosphatase

Shelf Life
  • Stable for a minimum of 18 months from the date of manufacture when stored at 2°C - 25°C
  • The mixed reagent must be used within 60 minutes

  • Store all reagents at 2°C - 25°C
  • Protect from heat, direct sunlight, and UV sources; keep lids tightly closed

Comparison of BioFX Alkaline Phosphatase (AP) Microwell Substrates. BioFX AP-Yellow (yellow line; read at 405 nm), BioFX AP-Red SpectraFX (red line; read at 450 nm), and BioFX AP-Blue SpectraFX (blue line; read at 570 nm) were compared using the same AP conjugate.
