CodeLink® Activated Slides

CodeLink® Activated Slides and CodeLink® HD Activated Slides are coated with a proprietary three-dimensional surface chemistry comprised of a long-chain, hydrophilic polymer containing amine-reactive groups. This polymer is covalently crosslinked to itself and to the surface of the slide resulting in a three-dimensional active matrix that, combined with end-point attachment, orients the immobilized DNA and holds it upright from the surface of the slide. These properties make CodeLink slides an excellent choice for use in microarray applications.

CodeLink Activated Microarray Slides

Product Code DN01-0025 – formerly GE Healthcare #300011 (or #256700-00):

  • Maximize DNA, RNA, and protein attachment
  • Ensure slide-to-slide consistency
  • Provide high-sensitivity and reproducibility
  • Produce very low background with high signal-to-noise ratio
  • Allow for optimized protocols for spotting and hybridization

CodeLink HD Activated Microarray Slides

Product Code DHD1-0023 – formerly GE Healthcare #300051 (or #070071-00)

All of the above, plus:

  • Allow for higher spotting densities than standard CodeLink Activated Slides
  • Enable spot densities of >20,000 features per slide

Microarray technology was identified by the FDA’s Critical Path Initiative as a key tool that holds ‘vast potential’ for advancing medical product development and personalized medicine through the identification of biomarkers. In response to this initiative, the MicroArray Quality Control (MAQC) project was launched in 2005. Major findings of its first phase were published in six articles in the September 8, 2005 issue of Nature Biotechnology.

In one of the articles in this publication, data from the MAQC consortium demonstrate that the CodeLink slide surface yields higher levels of gene detection than other commercially available microarray surfaces: Shi, L. et al. Nature Biotechnology, 24:9, 1151-1161 (2006).

SurModics’ slides may be suitable for the manufacture, use and/or analysis of oligonucleotide arrays, including uses covered under patents owned by Oxford Gene Technology Limited or related companies (“OGT”). However, SurModics is not licensed under any of these patents and does not have the right to pass on a license under any such patents to the end-user. Therefore the end-user of these slides should first check with OGT as to whether a license is necessary to manufacture, use, or analyze an oligonucleotide array and if so, secure one.
