DID YOU KNOW you can substantially extend the shelf life of your diagnostic kit components – even at room temperature?

Protein Stabilization
Proteins are fragile molecules that denature easily. They must be stored and handled in an environment that will maintain their native structure to ensure their stability and viability. Proteins are complex molecules, thus their stability issues are complex. The best stabilization conditions for one protein may not be the best for another, therefore, one stabilization method will not work effectively in all situations. SurModics has extensive experience in protein stabilization and offers a line of stabilization products to address various application requirements. (Learn More)

SurModics Stabilization Products
SurModics has been developing protein stabilization products since the introduction of its StabilCoat® Immunoassay Stabilizer in 1990. Over the years, SurModics has introduced additional products for the stabilization of proteins, both dried and in solution. These products have shown unsurpassed stabilizing efficacy when compared to leading competitor products even at room temperature storage. (Learn More)

Bringing Innovation Together
SurModics now offers, not only the Gold Standard in stabilization products, but also BioFX® colorimetric and chemiluminescent substrates (through SurModics’ August 2007 acquisition of BioFX Laboratories), and DIARECT autoimmune antigens (in North America through a distributorship agreement).

StabilCoat® Immunoassay Stabilizer

Stability tests were performed with StabilCoat Immunoassay Stabilizer using either rabbit monoclonal or polyclonal IgG antibodies. Coated microtiter plates were stabilized with either StabilCoat stabilizer or 1% BSA. The antibody-coated plates were dried and placed at room temperature. Percent retained activity was determined by comparing the activity of the aged antibody-coated microtiter plates to that of freshly coated plates. After 30 months in StabilCoat stabilizer at room temperature, the monoclonal antibody retained 70% activity and the polyclonal antibody retained 95% activity

StabilZyme® HRP Conjugate Stabilizer

The efficacy of StabilZyme HRP Conjugate Stabilizer was verified by real-time stability studies that included independent testing of the enzyme activity and the immunological activity by ELISA. The studies were conducted using a monoclonal IgG-HRP conjugate. Results of these analyses indicate superior performance of StabilZyme HRP stabilizer compared to a common HRP conjugate diluent. The monoclonal IgG-HRP conjugate retained over 90% of its activity when stored in StabilZyme HRP stabilizer for 24 months at room temperature.
